13.25 Changing The Engine Assigned To A Layer (v2.0)

It is possible to change the engine which is assigned to the layer of an engine. This is useful in situations where you would like to use another engine than the one currently used for the final output, because the machine hosting the current engine is broken or the graphics should be added to the final output using a second machine (load balancing) or because several "channels" need to be controlled from a single user interface (just:live only).

  1. Select the channel first and then activate the Layers & Engines tab.

  2. If needed, add and configure a new engine like described before.

  3. Click on an existing engine and choose the engine you would like to assign to this layer instead.

  4. Restart just:connect and start the new engine as well as all user interfaces connected to the affected channel to take over the new engine.

Because Forge macros arent supported by the legacy editor, you'll need to convert this content to the cloud editor to display this macro properly. Find out more about converting to the cloud editor

To be able to change an engine, the currently used engine as well as the new engine must be shutdown beforehand.
