13.14 Assigning, Removing or Changing Engines from Layers (v.5.x)
You must unlock the Just Control Configuration window and stop the channel(s) first to perform any changes.
Assigning an existing Engine to a Layer
It is possible to assign an existing Just Out engine to one or several Layers of a Channel. This is useful in situations where a new Layer is added to an existing Channel, or in case the Redundancy option has been licensed.
Select the Channel in the “Devices & Channel” window.
Click on the “Layers & Engines” tab.
Select an existing engine, click on “Select engine…” and choose Just Out the engine that you would like to assign to this Layer.
Repeat these steps for each Layer which has no engine assigned.
One Just Out instance can only be assigned to one Channel (except for the engine which is assigned as a Redundant engine of a Channel using the N+1 Redundancy configuration) and only as either a Primary or Redundant engine, not both.
Changing the Engine assigned to a Layer
It is possible to change the Just Out engine which is assigned to the Layer of an Engine. This is useful in the following situations:
You would like to use another Just Out engine for the final output because the machine running the current Just Out engine is broken or graphics should be added to the final output using a second machine (load balancing).
Several Channels need to be controlled from a single user interface (just:live user interface only).
Select the Channel in the “Devices & Channels” window.
Activate the “Layers & Engines” tab.
If required, add and configure a new Just Out engine as described before.
Click on an existing Just Out engine and choose the Just Out engine you would like to assign to this Layer instead.
To be able to change a Just Out engine, the currently used Just Out engine as well as the new Just Out engine must be stopped beforehand.
Removing an Engine from a Layer
It is possible to remove a Just Out engine from a single Layer or from all Layers of a Channel. This is useful in situations where an existing Just Out engine will be replaced by a new Just Out engine running on another machine.
To permanently remove a Just Out engine, select the Channel in the “Devices & Channels” window.
Activate the “Layers & Engines” tab.
Select an existing Just Out engine and choose “Remove engine from Layer” or “Remove engine from all Layers”.
