13.11 Checking & Configuring an Existing Engine (v.5.x)
After using the New Channel Wizard a Just Out engine is automatically created and added to all Layers of the Channel, but there can be situations where you would like to check or even change the attributes of an existing Just Out engine.
Checking the Attributes of an Existing Engine
You can check the configuration of an existing Just Out engine without stopping the Channel.
Select the Channel in the “Devices & Channels” list.
Click on the “Layers & Engines” tab.
On one of the desired Layers, open the drop-down menu in the column Primary or Redundant Just Out Engine and select “Configure engine”.
This opens the Engine Configuration window, where you can check the settings defined for this engine.
Changing the Attributes of an Existing Engine
You must unlock the Just Control Configuration window and stop the channel(s) first to perform any changes.
Stop the desired Channel by deactivating the checkbox in front of it. Stopping a Channel will also stop the Just Out engine and therefore the final output.
Select the Channel in the “Devices & Channels” list.
Click on the “Engines & Layers” tab.
On one of the desired Layers, open the drop-down menu in the column Primary or Redundant Just Out Engine and select “Configure engine”.
You change now engine attributes as described below.
Setup Tab
Network: Engine network configuration.
Name: Name of the engine.
IP address: IP address of the machine which is running this engine.
Port: Port that is used by this Just Out engine.
Heartbeat Timeout: Defines the number of heartbeats that can be missed, before a Just Out engine is defined as stopped. This can be useful in setups, where the heartbeat is missing due to an unreliable network.
Video device & output: Mode for the final video output.
Virtual: No dedicated video hardware is available for the final output on the machine running the Just Out engine.
AJA: In case you have an AJA device installed on the machine running Just Out and you would like to use this device as the output device.
Blackmagic: In case you have a Blackmagic Design device installed on the machine running Just Out and you would like to use this device as the output device.
NDI: Selecting NDI lets you receive an NDI® stream as a live input and stream the final output as an NDI® signal using the network your machine running the Just Out engine is connected to.
SRT: Selecting SRT lets you receive an SRT stream as a live input and stream the final output as an SRT signal using the network your machine running the Just Out engine is connected to.
UDP: Selecting UDP lets you receive an UDP stream as a live input and stream the final output as an UDP signal using the network your machine running the Just Out engine is connected to.
Video buffer: Select a higher setting if the data rate needed to play out Video and Graphic files is high and/or the continuous data rate of your storage system is low. If your storage system can deliver a high continuous data rate and the data rate needed to play the Video and Graphics files is low, you can select a small buffer. Buffer values above 6 seconds should be avoided because such high buffer values put additional pressure on the Just Out engine.
Preview: Defines the Preview quality shown in the On Air window of the user interface.
Frame-rate: Allows you to specify the number of frames per second for the video Preview. This should never be higher than the native frame rate of the Channel.
Resolution: This defines the number of pixels used for the Preview. Select from one of the available values.
Quality: This defines the amount of compression that is applied to the uncompressed image before it is used for the Preview.
Repositories Tab
Override channel repository
Activate this checkbox and Add Video, Audio, and Graphics Repositories to this Just Out engine. This can be useful if you would like to use different Repositories for the Primary and the Redundant Engines.
