8.5 Offline Playlist Building (v.5.x)

In addition to direct Playlist creation and editing (connected to an Online Channel) you may also create Playlists on a different machine.

How to build a Playlist offline

  1. Your system administrator may have configured an “Offline Channel” which can be used to build Playlists without affecting a Channel that is On Air.

  2. Start the Just Control application and connect to this “Offline Channel”.

  3. The just:play user interface is now in a state in which you can create and edit Playlists without working on an active (Online) Channel. You will always work in Edit Mode

  4. After finalizing your Playlist, you can save it directly to a Watch Folder of an active Channel (which means the Playlist is loaded immediately on that Channel). Or you can save it in a Playlist Repository folder of a Channel. In this case, the operator has to load the Playlist on the desired position in the Playout.

Verify that the time a new Playlist is scheduled is not currently used on your master Playout when using the “Watch Folder” function. If a single frame is already scheduled, the whole Playlist will be rejected and therefore not be played out. Keep in mind that only “TOA XML” compliant Playlists can be dropped into a Watch Folder, other formats will be ignored.

Refer to the Chapter  for more information about saving a Playlist. Consult your system administrator if a Watch Folder does exist for the particular Channel(s).
