[JIM] Channel Settings SRT v.6.5
This is a new feature of just:in mac v.6.5.
At this time, only H.264 and H.265 encoded SRT channels are supported, along with a maximum of eight AAC stereo audio channels. If you require support for other formats, please contact our support engineers.
Video Mode: Select the Video mode and ensure that it matches the SRT Source. If it does not match, a warning will be shown (āNo Signalā).
Audio Input: Choose between different Audio Input options. Audio Input options are:
Auto (same as video, SRT source)
External (NEW since v.6.2): When utilizing the External option, a channel can utilize any audio input available within the macOS Sound input preferences as the audio source. Therefore, USB audio interfaces such as the Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 are now supported. Furthermore, the Dante Virtual Soundcard can be utilized as an Audio Input option. Additionally, a delay in frames for the video pipeline can be added here. Please note that the delay option is only available when using the External Audio Input option.
Connection Mode:
Caller: In Caller mode, the SRT Channel will initiate the connection.
Listener: In Listener mode, the SRT Channel will wait to receive a connection from another SRT compatible device.
Server IP (Host) : Port:
IP: Depending on the Connection Mode, either add the IP Address of the just:in engine machine or of the SRT source the channel should connect to.
Port: Specify the connection port here. Must be the same port as the SRT source.
Receiver Buffer in bytes: This buffer will be used to overcome possible connection problems or network throughput issues.
Maximum Latency in ms: Latency refers to the delay between the video being captured and the video being played back. Secure Reliable Transport (SRT) is engineered to deliver low-latency video streaming. However, the actual latency can vary based on several factors, including network conditions and encoding settings.
Stream ID / Passphrase (Optional):
Stream ID: The SRT (Secure Reliable Transport) stream ID is an optional identifier used to distinguish between multiple SRT streams that may be multiplexed over the same connection.
Passphrase: The SRT (Secure Reliable Transport) passphrase is used for encrypting the data transmitted over an SRT connection. This passphrase is part of the encryption mechanism that ensures the security and privacy of the video and audio streams.
File Overwrite Strategy:
Append Counter (Default): When using this option, the Just In Engine application will add ā_2ā to the actual file name to avoid overwriting an already existing file.
Replace: By choosing this option, the Just In Engine application will overwrite a file with the same name at the target location.
Chunk Length: Defines the maximum length of the recorded Video.Ā The maximum Chunk Length is 12 hours, the default option is ā2ā hours.
If the Recording does not reach the entered Chunk Length, the recorded clips will be automatically truncated to the expected recorded length.
RecordingĀ exceeds the entered Chunk Length: A new Recording (generating a new clip) will automatically be started.
Start Timecode:Ā Enabling this option overrides the local time or incoming timecode and makes every new clip start with the defined timecode value.
Port: port to access theĀ Channel from just:in mac over an IP connection. The default port for the first Channel is ā50000ā, ā50001ā for the second Channel, and so on. You can leave this setting as is if the chosen ports are not in use on this machine.
MXF Write Buffer (Bytes in binary):Ā This setting can be used to tune MXF writing for specific storage requirements, but should only be changed with care as it may lead to unexpected results including write errors. Recommended value: āBlock size of storageā.
Restart On No Signal if Not Recording: If this option is enabled, the Channel will automatically restart after a signal loss (only in Idle Mode). Available options are:
Close container, write to new: Recording to the current file will be stopped and as soon as there is a valid signal again the recording will start into a new file.
Close container and stop: Recording will be stopped when the Channel detects a signal loss.
Dropped Frames Strategy (NEW in v.6.5):
Duplicate last valid frame: In case of a dropped frame, the channel adds a duplicate of the last valid frame available.
Add black frame: This option adds black frames for every occurring dropped frame.
Preview
You can manually override the resolution,Ā frame rate,Ā and quality of the Video Previews within Just Control. This may be helpful to increase performance when displaying many Channels in Just Control. Please refer to the Channel Preview Options below for more information.
Resolution: Two resolution options are available:
High:Ā 640Ć360px
Low:Ā 480Ć270pxĀ
Frame rate:Ā The preview frame rate can be changed between ā0ā (=native frame rate) and ā30ā (if the channel frame rate is higher than ā30ā, then the preview will be limited to 30fps).
Quality: The āPreview Qualityā setting can be changed between ā10%ā and ā100%ā.
Add/Remove an SRT Channel
You can add or remove SRT Channels at any time. Open the Just Control Configuration panel and select one of the connected just:in mac devices. Then use the āPlusā button to add an SRT Channel.
Once the new Channel is added, you can adjust the settings and enable it so that you can use it within Just Control. To delete a Channel, select the Channel within the āDevices & Channelā list and press the āMinus ā button.
Channels can be removed only, if they get disabled/stopped before.
