Compatibility Matrix for just:in mac pro 2025.3
Important Update: Starting with version 2025.2, the just:in mac pro solution will be optimized exclusively for Apple silicon hardware (M1-M4) to provide you with the best performance and experience.
By fully transitioning to the Apple silicon platform, we ensure optimal performance, stability, and compatibility with the latest advancements.
If you are planning to deploy just:in mac on INTEL-based Macs (MacPro7,1 or Macmini8,1) please use version 6.5 or version 2025.1!
Nevertheless, we will, of course, continue to support our customers who still have certified Intel-based Macs running qualified versions of just:in mac.
The specific hardware setup, third-party drivers, software and operating systems should always be tested thoroughly with the free of charge demo software provided by ToolsOnAir before the final installation.
Operating System
The supported macOS versions are (recommended macOS versions are displayed in Bold)
macOS 26.x (“Tahoe”) - certified
macOS 15.7.x (“Sequoia”)
macOS 14.8.x (“Sonoma”)
Administrator account required for installation, configuration and to collect logs.
Date and Time Format
Please verify that your macOS Date & Time settings are compatible with the Gregorian Calendar format (Gregorian date formats include the following: ddmonyy, ddmonyyyy, mm/dd/yy, or mm/dd/yyyy). Using the Gregorian calendar ensures consistency and accuracy in the Date header, avoiding misinterpretation, synchronisation and activation errors. This is crucial for the Schedule mode to fetch the correct Start/Stop Date and Time information.
Memory/RAM
We recommend installing at least 16 GB on the machine running the Just In Engine application on Apple silicon-based Macs (M1-M4).
Mac models and macOS versions supported by just:in mac pro 2025.3:
NOTE: Starting with version 2025.2, only Apple silicon hardware will be supported. If you are planning to deploy just:in mac on INTEL-based Macs (MacPro7,1 or Macmini8,1) please use version 6.5 or version 2025.1!

Installation of the just:in mac 2025.x software components
Drag & Drop both Just Control.app and Just In Engine.app to the Applications folder and if desired, add both applications to the Dock.
AirDrop & Handoff / AirPlay Receiver
Before you run the Just In Mac Engine application for the first time, please ensure that the “AirPlay Receiver” option is disabled, as it interferes with the internal network communication between the Just In Engine and Just Control applications.
IMPORTANT: Allow “Local Network” access within macOS Sequoia (15.x)
The new Local Network Security feature in macOS Sequoia (15.x) enhances privacy and control by allowing users to manage which apps can access their local network. This feature addresses concerns over unmonitored network access, providing an extra layer of security by ensuring that only trusted applications have access to local network resources, such as printers, file-sharing devices, and other computers. In macOS Sequoia, users are prompted when an application attempts to access the local network for the first time, enabling them to allow or deny access (“System Settings → Privacy & Security → Local Network”).
When running the Just In Engine and Just Control applications for the first time on macOS Sequoia you will be asked to allow it to discover and connect to devices or other applications on your network. Please click on the “Allow” button to ensure that the communication between the Just In Engine and Just Control applications is guaranteed.
To double-check the communication status with devices or applications on your local network, go to “System Settings → Privacy & Security → Local Network” and ensure that both Just In Engine and Just Control are enabled.
Setup (see section above)
Go to the Applications folder and open the Just In Engine application. Press the “Ok” button and enter the Administrator Password.
The diagnostic window of Just In Engine will open, showing the message "No active channels, please start Just Control to configure channels".
Now go back to the Applications folder and open the Just Control Application. You may want to allow the application access to the macOS Calendar application (Schedule Mode). This can also be done/changed later. The Just Control login window appears.
You can continue here by simply pressing the “Login” button without entering any password (can be changed later). Next, you will be asked for the IP-Address of the machine. If the given IP-Address (IP-Address of your current machine) is correct, move on by pressing the “Connect” button. If you expect that the network and/or the IP-Address change frequently, please use “127.0.0.1” instead.
Then the Configuration Wizard appears, which will help to finalize the setup.
The Configuration Wizard automatically detects your installed video devices (AJA, Blackmagic Design - specific driver installation required). Then you can choose the video mode (e.g., 1080i2997), the Device and Channel Name, the Default Storage Path and you can pre-select Capture Presets. Complete the configuration by pressing the Configure button.
All available Channels will now be automatically connected, and you can start to use just:in mac. Settings can be changed within the Channel Inspector on the right side of the Just Control User Interface. Recording can be started by pressing the Recording button, which will be available by moving the mouse into the dedicated Channel Viewer.
