2.2 Supported GPUs (v3.0)

For testing purposes the GPU of any recent Mac is sufficient.

Testing

  • Integrated Intel Graphics or any Metal-compatible GPU

Good

  • AMD or NVIDIA: Any Metal-compatible GPU

  • Intel: HD Graphics 4000, Iris, UHD Graphics 630

Optimal

  • AMD: FirePro D300, D500, D700, Radeon Pro 580X, Radeon Pro W5XXXX, Radeon Pro Vega II or Vega II Duo

  • NVIDIA: GeForce GTX 285, GeForce GTX 680 or any Metal-compatible GPU

  • Once Just Out is started with a display connected to the graphics card, it is not possible to change the resolution or to remove the display any more. In some cases, even turning the display off can make the outgoing signal corrupt. In such cases you must restart Just Out to fix the issue.

  • Even it is technically possible to run the Mac headless, we strongly recommend to use a monitor emulator hardware in case no display should be used. Such EDID emulators are available from Gefen and Lindy for example.

  • When using a headless system, it is not possible to change the resolution of the virtual display. Doing so will corrupt the output of just:out, showing non moving black blocks randomly spread over the whole output. In this case only a restart of Just Out will fix the problem.

  • There are several other GPUs which may also work. Please test thoroughly before using an unlisted graphics card. ToolsOnAir offers no support for unlisted graphic cards.

  • The just:live/just:play user interface can be operated on any Mac which supports the minimum system requirements as long as the Just Out engine is running on a hardware listed above.

  • Some screen-sharing (remote) utilities may change the screen resolution. Please test your solution before going on air.
