This document describes the steps you need to follow to install and configure ToolsOnAir's just:live/ just:play version 1.8 on Macintosh systems running Apple's OS X 10.8 (Snow Lion) or 10.9 (Mavericks). You will learn how to install and set up the required hard- and software infrastructure and how to monitor the system to ensure just:live/just:play continues to run effectively. After reading this document you should be able to understand how the system works and therefore be able to do the installation and maintenance of the system on your own. To successfully install and set up just:live/just:play you need to have a certain level of IT knowledge and experience.
This user manual is intended for just:live and just:play administrators.
We make these assumptions
- You are familiar with the Macintosh environment.
- You have system administrator privileges for the network and the OS of the Macintosh systems you are working on.
- You are experienced in installing and configuring client-server software in a TCP/IP network.
- You will install the software on machines that have been connected to a LAN or WAN by a network engineer.
- You will install the software on a machine which has no other software installed – except the OS and the drivers needed to operate the channel/hardware.
- You are familiar with the arrangement of the machines in the just:live/just:play system and know which machine is to be used for which purpose.
- You understand the main broadcasting concepts of the just:live/just:play system, e.g. the method which is used for broadcasting the output of the just:live/just:play system.
- You understand general video technologies like codecs, frame rates but also transmission methods and timecodes.
