General, Multiviewer

You can access the Just Control Preferences via the application menu Just Control -> “Preferences” or by using the keyboard shortcut “Command - ,”.

Authorise yourself by clicking on the “Make Changes” button to adjust any Preferences.

In the “General, Multiviewer” tab you can change preferences related to the Channel Viewer, Inspector and Login behaviour.

Locking

Available options:

  • No locking

  • Lockable Inspector

  • Lockable Inspector And Multi-Viewer

Lockable Inspector

When activating this feature, the Inspector is locked for unintended access. Only Users with admin access (macOS System) can change settings within the Inspector. Only the naming section within the Inspector can be adjusted.

Click the “Close” button of the Inspector while pressing and holding the “Option” key. You will notice that the “Close” button turns into a Lock while pressing and holding the “Option” key. This indicates that the Inspector can be unlocked.

You need to enter the admin credentials to unlock the Inspector.

Lockable Inspector And Multi-Viewer

When activating this option, the Inspector and the multi-viewer area are locked for unintended access, Only Users with admin access (macOS System) can change settings within the Just Control user interface. Only the naming section within the Inspector can be adjusted.

This feature can be enabled/disabled the same way as the “Lockable Inspector” setting mentioned above.

Lock multi-viewer drag-and-drop

By using this option, it can be prevented to to accidentally drag and drop connected Channel Viewer to different Channel Viewers.

Automatically Log In Last User

By checking this option, entering Login credentials is not required, and the last known User will be automatically logged in. Please note, that this is only possible for Users, which do not have defined any password yet.

Mouse Behaviour

You can define which overlays will be shown when entering or exiting a Channel Viewer.

  • Mouse Enter Action: select whether the specific element will be shown or hidden when the mouse is hovering over a Channel View.

  • Mouse Exit Action: select whether the specific element will be shown or hidden when the mouse is not hovering over a Channel View.

  • Quicklook Action: select whether the specific element will be shown or hidden when the Channel is in Quicklook Mode.

Users

In the “Users” tab, you can check and adjust all available Users and Templates.

The left column lists all existing Users and by selecting any of these, you can see the corresponding/allocated Template(s) (Multi-viewer layouts).

Please note that you can only delete Users and Templates, which are currently not in use.

If you want to change the password of a User, select the User and press the “Change Password” button.

Enter a new “Password” and press the “Set” button. If you would like to remove the current “Password”, leave the field empty and use the “Set” button.

Confirm stop recording

This is a safety feature to avoid unintended recording interruptions. When enabled, a Recording can only be stopped by pressing the “Record” button a second time to confirm the action. This feature applies to the “Crash” and “Schedule” recording modes.

When pressing the “Record” button once, a checkmark appears. Press it again to stop the recording process. Otherwise, the Recording will continue.

Stopping ongoing Recordings with the “Group Stop Recording” button at the bottom of the Inspector is affected by this setting as well.

Appearance (macOS)

Just Control uses the macOS system-wide “Appearance” and “Accent” colour, which is set in the “Appearance” preference pane within the “System Settings…” (macOS Ventura onwards).
