Preface

You can record SDI, HDMI signals, or IP streams (NDI®5, SRT) on-the-fly in Crash Mode, i.e. you start and stop each Capture/Recording process manually.

Start a Recording

Make sure to have at least one valid Capture- and Destination-Preset configured and that at least one Channel is connected successfully. Select a Channel and open the Inspector and make sure that the Channel is in Crash Mode.

Now hover over the Channel Viewer and the “Record” button will show up. Press this button to start the Recording.

You can use the keyboard shortcut “Command-R” to start/stop a recording.

An ongoing Recording is indicated by a red border around the inner area of the Channel Viewer and a “RECORDING” message overlay.

Stop a Recording

Click the “Record” button again to stop recording. The recorded clip will be available at the appropriate path in the filesystem (defined in the Destination Preset).

Multiple Capture IDs

A Capture ID consists of a Capture Preset and a Destination Preset. Open the Inspector of the desired Channel. At the bottom of the Inspector pane, add further Capture IDs by pressing the Add ("+") button. Select a Capture Preset and Destination Preset for each Capture ID and start the recording process as described above.

Please ensure that the Capture IDs are recording to different storage locations or have different file name extensions (*.mov, *.mxf, or *.mp4).

You may start multiple Recordings of a single input source at the same time to the same or to multiple destinations. This feature is limited by the hardware specifications of the machine running the just:in linux engine. We strongly recommend doing thorough testing before using this feature in a live or production environment.

Use the “Minus (“-”)” button to delete Capture IDs again.
