Open a live:cut Project within Just Control. Then goto the menu Project → SettingsSettings” (“Command-P”) and click on the “Paths” tab.

Before starting the recording make sure , verify that all Channels display the same Timecode. If that is the case, go ahead and use the “Record” button at the bottom right of the Just Control /(live:cut) user interface to start the recording. It takes a couple of seconds for the recording process to start. This small delay is necessary, as live:cut searches for a Start Timecode on all Channels.

Starting the Recording Process:

After pressing the Recording Record” button, the recording will be started start automatically. Please note that this takes a few seconds, as live:cut is checking the timecode Timecode on all channels.

Recording started successfully:

As soon as the Recording has been started, you can switch/cut between Cameras (= Channels) by using one of the following methods. The availability of the methods depends on your device configuration.

Use the Switcher Buttons - Just Control (live:cut) user interface only

Clicking on one of the Switcher buttons in the lower left of the Just Control (live:cut) user interface changes/cuts the Camera and creates a new entry in the EDL.

Use the Channel Viewer - Just Control (live:cut) user interface only

Clicking on one of the Channel Views of the Just Control (live:cut) User Interface changes the Camera and creates a new entry in the EDL.

Use Keyboard Shortcuts - Just Control (live:cut) user interface only

Pressing “Control- 1, 2, 3, 4, 5…” changes/cuts the Camera and creates a new entry in the EDL. Refer to the Project Settings to get and define the keyboard shortcuts. 

Use an external Device

Switch/cut the Cameras by using an external device. When the top left label displays User Interface or Blackmagic Design ATEM you may also use the previously described switching methods.

Stop Recording

Press the Stop RecordRecord” button at the bottom right of the Just Control (live:cut) User Interface to stop the Recording. A confirmation dialog dialogue will appear, where you have to confirm the stop recording process.

live:cut stops the ongoing Recording a few seconds later. If the Auto Counter option is activated, the Take number will be increased automatically.

Import the EDL XML into a Video Editor

After the Recording stops has been stopped, live:cut creates a Multicamera XML out of the EDL and saves it to the folder which is was defined in the Project Settings. This XML can then be imported into the NLE. To automate this process, you may enable the “Open after Export function” in the “Project” menu.
