With version 2.0 we started to support UHD playout up to and including 30 fps using selected hardware. Here are some additional informations which should be considered while configuring a server for UHD playout.
- UHD playout is only supported with a MacPro6,1.
- Only those video devices which have been qualified by ToolsOnAir should be used (see chapter → Supported Video Devices).
- Make sure all cables, boxes and devices are using Thunderbolt 2 with 20 Gbit or higher.
- The faster the MacPro, the more functions can be used at the same time and a higher video codec quality can be used.
- Although it is possible to run just:out and the UI on the same machine, we strongly recommend running the UI on a separate machine.
- We recommend to use Apple ProRes (up to and including 422 HQ) and selected H.264 compressed movies.
- Real-time graphics are supported but especially complex templates must be tested thoroughly before using them on air.
- While it is possible to use the internal streaming engine, we recommend to use an external streaming device to avoid an overloaded hardware.
- We recommend to disable the "Low latency playout" in the advanced channel settings of just:connect.
- Currently it is not possible to use an internal method to switch to live. An external mixer has to be used instead.
