2.5 Video Codec Acquisition (v2.5)

Due to licensing restrictions we are not allowed to ship any codecs along with our products.

To obtain the appropriate professional Apple codecs (ProRes, IMX...) you need to install Final Cut Pro 7 or Final Cut Pro X on a separate editing machine. Run Apple's Software Update after the installation and download/update the latest versions of the codecs. On the editing machine the codecs should now be stored in the folder /Library/QuickTime. These codecs also need to be on the Playout machine.

Check regularly for new codec updates on Apple's support site or via the Software Update mechanism built-into OS X/macOS. Please note that this update installer will check for an already installed version of Final Cut Pro 7 or Final Cut Pro X.

AVID Compressed Videos

In order to be able to play out AVID compressed videos, please download and install the AVID LE/PE Codecs which can be downloaded from the Avid website or which come with your AVID software.
