4.6 Setting Up The Video Device To Play Out Fill&Key (v2.0)

Most devices from AJA and Blackmagic with at least 2 SDI outputs allow to play out fill & key, which is useful in situations where the final mixdown should be done using a production mixer. Please contact AJA or Blackmagic directly to find out if your video device does support this function with the output format of your channel.

These windows may look different and can offer other variations in function depending on the hardware and OS you are using. 

Setting up an AJA device

Open the AJA Control Panel and select the tab SDI Out. If your device does support fill & key you can select Video+Key for the SDI Output 1 and 2.

Setting up a Blackmagic device

Open the Blackmagic LiveKey application which comes with the drivers of your BMD device and select External Key like shown in the picture.

Select the right Live SDI input configuration to play out Fill&Key

Open the Advanced Output Format settings of just:connect and select With DSK, default pass-through under Live SDI input configuration. This will allow the just:out engine to send transparency information to the video device.
