With version 2025.x, UHD Playout up to and including 60fps is possible, using qualified hardware. Please take the following points into account when configuring a machine for UHD playout:

• UHD playout is supported using Apple silicon-based Mac mini (M1/M2/M4), Mac Studio (Max or Ultra) or Mac Pro 2023 (Mac14,8), up to 60fps.

• Only the video devices that have been qualified by ToolsOnAir should be used (see Chapter https://toolsonair.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/TST/pages/4611081715.

• Ensure that all enclosures and external devices are connected via Thunderbolt 3 or, preferably, Thunderbolt 4.

• We recommend using Apple ProRes (up to and including 422 HQ) and qualified H.264 compressed movies.

• Although it is possible to run Just Out and Just Control on the same machine, we strongly recommend running Just Control on a separate machine.

• Real-time graphics are supported, but especially complex templates must be tested thoroughly before using them on air. This also applied to HTML graphics provided by third-party systems.

• Switch to a UHD Live signal is supported in our playout software.

Limitations

• The output of Closed Captions/OP-47 is currently unsupported, as we’re clarifying some issues with the related video card vendors.

• The output of Fill & Key in UHD is currently not supported and under review.
