2.3 Supported Video Devices (v.2025.x)
Using a video device from AJA, driver version 17.1.3 or higher is recommended.
Using a video device from Blackmagic Design, driver version 14.5 or higher is recommended.
The HDMI output of the Mac can NOT be used for the broadcast output signal. Please ensure that one of the dedicated video devices listed below is used.
This chapter contains a list of supported video devices for playout in SD, HD or UHD. When using a Thunderbolt device from AJA, Blackmagic Design or PCI card (in a Sonnet enclosure), please ensure that the speed of the Thunderbolt bus is at least 20 Gbit/s (i.e., Thunderbolt 2). This is especially important when playing out in UHD. Connections using 40 Gbit/s (i.e., Thunderbolt 3) or faster are preferred.
Thunderbolt 5 solutions are currently under review, and we are working with the related vendors on the final specifications.

1 Legacy. This device has been working with previous versions of Just Out, but is not available for purchase from AJA/Blackmagic Design anymore. Please check if there are drivers available for your device supporting macOS Sonoma (14.7.x) or higher from AJA/Blackmagic Design, which will make the hardware compatible with our software.
2 No switch to live, no VANC out. This device supports video playout and real-time graphics (incl. Fill & Key), but not the ability to switch to a live signal. It also does not support the output of VANC data such as timecode, captions (CC and OP47) and SCTE triggers.
Listed above are those UHD devices which we have tested with UHD playout up to and including p60. However, it is possible that other non-listed devices which also support UHD might work as well.
Not all UHD devices support all advanced features like 12G I/O, higher frame rates or HDR. Please make sure you select a device which supports the features you need, or get in touch with ToolsOnAir for further information or clarifications.
