Here are more informations how to configure an AJA device for play out.

The AJA control panel may look different and can offer other variations in function depending on the driver version, the installed firmware and the hardware you are using. Always use the latest driver release.

Control

Here you choose the Default Output you'd like to have when just:out is not started. Also configure the Playback Timing:

  • Choose Free Run if you do not have a reference signal attached to the AJA device and the DS Keyer setting is OFF.
  • Choose Ref In if you have a reference signal attached to the AJA device. This implies that you don't turn on the DS Keyer for the DSK based switch-to-live functionality
  • Choose Video In if you have turned on the DS Keyer to enable the switch-to-live functionality and remove any signal which is attached at the Ref. In.

Format

Select the primary format your playout will use. This is usually the same format you have chosen as the Output Format in just:connect. Although just:out will change the format automatically, we recommend to set the primary and – if available – the secondary format here. Defining a secondary format allows you to get two different output formats of the same playout.

Set the RGB Range to FULL in case your play out format is SD.

Set the RGB Range to SMPTE in case your play out format is HD.

Video Setup

Make sure the format you would like to use is activated under the VOut Filters. This is very important especially for UHD/4K play out, because only those formats which are activated here can be selected as the output format in just:connect.

Activate the VANC option here to enable the AJA device to play out ClosedCaptions.

Conversion

Set Pause on to Full Frame.

Set the YUV-RGB Conversion setting Gamma to LINEAR like shown in the screenshot, does not matter if your channel is SD or HD.
