9.5 Workflow

Let's run through a basic recording workflow:

  • Start the Just In Engine QuickTime engine and the LiveCut GUI.  Start the LiveCut GUI application.
  • Enter the desired values for "Name", "Scene" and "Take".
  • Choose a Project Setting if available.
  • Hit the "OK" button to confirm and continue to the LiveCut interface.

  • Open the Just In Channels window with "Cmd + 2".
  • Open the Connect to Just In Channels window ("Cmd + 3"), select
  • the desired channels and click on "Connect".
  • The Just In Channels window will now display all selected channels.
  • Choose the desired Timecode Source, Capture – 1 settings and Destination – 1 settings.
  • Press the "Record" button.

When you press the "Record", LiveCut will do the following:

  •  Create a new LiveCut file (in the 1 project folder).
  •  Trigger the Just In Engine QuickTime engine to start recording.
  •  Start the EDL event recording process.
  •  Stop the recording, once the "Stop" button is pressed.
  •  The XML is automatically exported to your NLE of choice, opened and made ready for final trimming.
  •  LiveCut will increase the "Take" amount by 1, and wait for the Just In Engine QuickTime engine to get ready again (indicated in the status area).
  •  Start a new recording (new take), once the "Record" button is pressed again.

This is probably one of the simplest multi-camera recording workflows available. LiveCut turns into a single-button application (Start / Stop recording) when you use this special workflow feature. To disable the "Auto Counter" option and proceed with the manual workflow, click its checkbox to deselect it.
