1.1 Setting Up Your live:cut System

A live:cut system consists of two main components:

  • The ToolsOnAir Just In Engine QuickTime engine for the native ingest process.
  • The LiveCut application from where everything – including the native ingest process – is handled.

You can set up the whole system to run on a single Mac, or decide to divide ingest and the LiveCut controller application to be on separate Macs. Editing on the same machine is still possible. Depending on whether you plan to have only one Mac or split up the system, you will have different hardware requirements, which will be covered in the following chapters.
