4.5 Trim Window (v.4.x)

Trim Window

Select a movie in the Library, Workbench or Timeline and press Cmd-T (or press the Trim button at the bottom of the Library) to open the Trim Window, which allows you to set a new In- and Outpoint as well as a new Posterframe.

  1. In-Point: Defines the in-point of a Video. Shows the current in-point. Go to in-point.

  2. Timecode: Shows the position of the CTI and shows the duration defined by in- and out-point.

  3. Out-Point: Defines the out-point of a Video. Shows the current out-point. Go to out-point.

  4. Viewer: Shows the video depending on the position of the CTI.

  5. Play Button: Play/Pause the movie. You can also use J-K-L on your keyboard.

  6. Trimhandle In-Point: Move yellow trim handle to define the in-point.

  7. CTI: Shows the current time. Drag and scratch in the timeline to scrub through the movie.

  8. Trimhandle Out-Point: Move yellow trim handle to define the out-point.

  9. Set Posterframe: Define the image which is shown in the viewer as the poster frame of the movie.

  10. OK/Cancel: Click OK to take over the changes you made, otherwise click Cancel.

  11. Name of the Movie: Shows the name of the movie currently loaded in the Trim Editor

  12. Audio Preview: Toggle audio preview.

  • Defining a new in/out-point and/or poster frame will write this information to the metadata XML sidecar file which has the same name as the Video file. The sidecar files are stored in the same repository as the respective Video files.

  • The resulting length can be seen in the corresponding column of the Library.

Trim window shortcuts

Shortcut-j: If the player is stopped or playing, play backwards 1x, otherwise cycle between playing backwards at 2x/5x/10x/30x/60x
Shortcut-k: Stop
Shortcut-l: If the player is stopped or playing backwards, play forwards 1x, otherwise cycle between playing forwards at 2x/5x/10x/30x/60x

Shortcut-i: Jump to the current in-point
Shortcut-alt-i: Set the in-point to the current time
Shortcut-o: Jump to the current out-point
Shortcut-alt-o: Set the out-point to the current time

 

Left cursor: Move back one frame
Right cursor: Move forward one frame
Space: Cycle between play and stop
