13.8 Adding & Removing Layers from a Channel (v.4.x)
You must unlock the Just Control Configuration window and stop the channel(s) to be able to make any changes.
Adding a Layer
You can add new Video, FX, one Simple Graphics (SFX), Event or Audio Layers to an already existing Channel. This is primarily useful during testing to find out how many Layers are needed to do the final playout. Once a Channel is activated using the activation code, the number of Layers will be adjusted automatically.
Stop the desired Channel by deactivating the checkbox in front of it. Stopping a Channel will also stop the Just Out engine and therefore the final output.
Select the Channel in the Devices & Channels list.
Click on the Layers & Engines tab.
Click on the New Layer button and select the kind of Layer you would like to add.
Make sure to assign an engine to the new Layer, like described in 13.10 Adding and Configuring a New Engine (v.4.x)
Activate the checkbox in front of the Channel to start it again and to take over the changes you made.
Close the configuration window and drag the Channel from the Connections tab to the Multi-viewer area.
Once a just:live/just:play user interface has connected to the Channel, the new Layer is immediately available. Nevertheless, all existing Playlists must be remade to take over the new Layer, except for the Simple Graphics (SFX) layer, which can be used also for existing playlists. No new element can be dropped into the new Layer of all existing Playlists.
Removing a Layer
You can remove a Video, FX, Simple Graphics (SFX), Event or Audio Layer from an existing Channel.

Select the Layer you would like to remove.
Press the backspace key.
A warning window appears. Click Remove to remove the Layer.
Activate the checkbox in front of the Channel to start it again and to take over the changes you made.
Close the configuration window and drag the Channel from the Connections tab to the Multi-viewer area.
Changing the Layer Order
Changing the order of the Layers changes the order in which they appear in the user interface and the order in which they appear On Air.
Stop the desired Channel by deactivating the checkbox in front of it. Stopping a Channel will also stop the Just Out engine and therefore the final output.
Select the Channel in the Devices & Channels list.
Click on the Layers & Engines tab.
Select the Layer you would like to move.
Press the Move Up or Move Down button to change the order of the selected Layer.
Activate the checkbox in front of the Channel to start it again and to take over the changes you made.
Close the configuration window and drag the Channel from the Connections tab to the Multi-viewer area.
The visibility of the elements which are played out on the available Layers is from top to bottom. Therefore, a video playing in a Video Layer which is on top of an FX Layer will make the FX element invisible by overlaying it.
