[JIL] User Interface v.5.5

The following chapters explain the macOS based user interface Just Control for just:in linux. You will learn how to:

  • Connect to Devices/Channels.

  • Work with Channels.

  • Customise the User Interface.

  • Use the Inspector to adjust Channel Settings and to start/stop Recordings.

What is just:control and what can it do?

  • Just Control is the User Interface to control multiple Channels, available from one or multiple just:in linux appliances within the network.

  • Just Control provides a Realtime Video, Audio and Timecode Preview from the Channel and allows to select Capture- and Destination-Presets for the selected Channels.

  • Just Control is used to execute Recordings, using one of the available Capture Modes.

  • The application has access (if granted) to the macOS Calendar application and can therefore receive scheduled recording events in Just Control.

First Launch

Upon the first launch of Just Control, you have to login (no password required to start) and then to connect to a Device/Engine within the network. The following chapters explain how to connect to Channels and how to start Recordings.

Access to macOS Calendar

The Just Control application has to have access to the macOS Calendar application in order to receive scheduled recording events when using the Schedule Mode. If you do not grant the application access to the Calendar application, the Schedule Mode will not work as expected. At the first launch of Just Control, macOS is asking if you allow the application to access the Calendar application. Press “OK” to make sure that Schedule Mode is working correctly.

You can change the permissions at any time within the Security & Privacy preference pane (“Privacy” tab) in the System Preferences of macOS, as shown below.
