13.17 Defining & Overriding Repository Folders of a Channel (v3.0)

Defining the Repository Folders of a Channel

The Just Out Engine as well as the Just Control user interface which are assigned to a Channel are looking for Videos, Audio, Graphics and previously saved Playlists in the Repository folders defined for the channel. While you can define as many repository folders as you want, the priority while playing Movies, Audio or Graphics is from top to bottom. So in case there are two Video repository folders defined, Just Out will look for the file in the first repository folder first and only look for the Video in the second repository folder in case it can not find in the first one. This can be useful in case the first repository is the local disk and the second one a centralised storage, for example.

  • Before proceeding you must stop the channel by deactivating the checkbox in front of it. Stopping the channel will also stop the Just Out engine and therefore the final output.

  • Please make sure that all Engines and all user interfaces that are connecting to a Channel do have access to the Repository folders defined here, otherwise you will not be able to see all files available for this Channel. Failing to give access to the correct paths for the Engines/Interfaces could result in scheduled files not playing out!

  • In the just:live and just:play Library, the Videos, Audio, Graphic, Event and Playlist tab are visible no matter if a Repository folder has been configured for the particular media or not.

Overriding the Repository Folders of a Channel

It is possible to override the Repositories which are defined for a Channel for a single engine client. This is useful in situations where an engine uses a storage system for Playout which is different compared to the other interfaces and engines connected to this Channel.

  2. Activate the Layers & Engines tab.

  3. Select an existing engine and choose Configure engine.

  4. The Engine Configuration window appears. Click on the Repositories tab.

  5. Override Channel Repositories: Activate this checkbox to override the Channel Repositories.

  6. Add Repository: Add new Video, Audio, Graphic, Playlist or Workflow Repositories by using this drop-down menu.
