12.5 Channel - Layers & Engines (v3.0)

  • New Layer: Adds a new Video, FX, Event or Audio Layer to the selected Channel.

  • Move Up/Down: Moves the selected Layer up or down. The final visual output will be in the order defined here (top to bottom).

  •  ID: Unique ID, used to identify the Layer within Just Connect and the XML Playlists.

  • Name: Name of a Layer. Double click to change it. The Layer names will be displayed in the just:live/just:play user interface. Use less than 8 characters for just:play and less than four characters for just:live user interface, otherwise the name will be shortened.

  • Layer Options / Status: You may assign an Infinite Graphic to an FX Layer. When doing so you need to specify a realtime composition or a still image file (JPEG or PNG) that should be permanently played on the Layer. For example you might select a station ID or corner logo graphic to be always or infinitely played on that Layer. Once selected as infinite, the Layer will be locked the  graphic file is always being played on this Layer. There is an option in the Inspector to turn this graphic off for particular Videos (or Playlists in just:play) and there is a also an Infinite Graphics tab in the Inspector of both user interfaces, which allows to edit the attributes of the Infinite Graphics element even while it is on air.

  • Hide Infinite Tag: You can assign a metadata colour tag to hide the Infinite Graphics for all Video elements which have the same colour tag assigned.

  • Master Just Out Engine: Select a Master Engine for each Layer you want to use with this Channel – otherwise the Layer will not be active. By default a channel comes with one Video and two FX Layers as well as with an unlimited number of Audio Layers which can be upgraded to any number of Layers, depending on the power of your host machine(s) and the speed of the disks.

  • Redundant Just Out Engine: If there are two Jus Out engines on two different machines available they can be configured as Primary and Redundant engine which means that the information from Just Connect will be send to both engines and therefore the two engines are playing out the same content synchronised all the time.
