Hardware (5.1)
Configure the Linux Hardware
All Linux related settings like network configuration and storage settings should be handled by a certified ToolsOnAir partner. After that, it is normally not required to change any just:in related settings on the appliance, as every setting can be done via just:control.
Number of available SDI channels
The number of the available SDI Channels depend on the specific just:in linux appliance. There are currently following appliances available:
JIL4-HDD or JIL4-SSD: 4xHD or 1xUHD (up to p60)
JIL8-HDD or JIL8-SSD: 8xHD or 2xUHD (up to p60)
JIL4-12G: up to 4xUHD
JIL8-12G: up to 8xUHD
Please note, that it is possible to handle specific channel/project requirement as well. Therefore please contact us directly.
NDI and SRT Inputs
Additionally to the available SDI (or HDMI) inputs, it is possible to add NDI or SRT input channels. This can be done within the just:control configuration panel. Depending on the given license key, additional NDI and/or SRT channels can be used alongside physical inputs like SDI or HMDI.
Additional PCIe Cards
Depending on the just:in linux appliance, there are one or multiple PCIe slots available to add fibre channel or additional ethernet cards to connect specific storage systems to the just:in linux appliance.
The just:in linux appliance has two onboard 10Gbit RJ45 ports.
Internal RAID
Every just:in linux appliance includes an internal RAID. The RAID level and the size of the internal RAID depend on the appliance itself and the given settings. Basically the internal RAID can be used as main recording location or as fallback path.
JIL4/8-HDD
These just:in linux appliances have an internal software RAID (RAID0 or RAID10) configured. The RAID is mounted at:
/media/internal_raid/ingest
and shared via SMB at startup by default. The default user is "justin" and the default password is "justin" as well.
JIL4/8-SSD
These just:in linux appliances have an internal RAID configured, which is handled by a dedicated RAID controller. The RAID is mounted at:
/media/internal_raid/ingest
and shared via SMB at startup by default. The default user is "justin" and the default password is "justin" as well.
JIL4/8-12G
These just:in linux appliances have an internal RAID configured, which is handled by a dedicated RAID controller. The RAID is mounted at:
/media/internal_raid/ingest
and shared via SMB at startup by default. The default user is "justin" and the default password is "justin" as well.
just:control installation
just:control can be downloaded from the ToolsOnAir support system. Follow the regular installation procedure described in the appropriate User Manuals.
Alternatively you can mount /media/internal_raid/tools at your macOS client and copy the just:control application from there.
just:in mac and just:in linux are using the same user interface (just:control), which is currently version 5.0
