Besides playing Videos and Graphics, our playout solutions also allow you to manage live input signals like studio signals or satellite feeds and send it to the output.

Using the Playout Video device there are two different ways:
The Downstream Keyer-based method (DSK In-based)
The non Downstream Keyer-based method (Buffered In-based)
Both methods can be used in SD and HD, but depend on the specific hardware used for playout.
Using the playout video device to switch to the Live Input signal means, that the video card synchronizes to the incoming video and not to the reference signal. To stabilize the signal in advance (i.e. before it is sent to the video card input) you must use a frame synchronizer which supports your playout format. Suited frame synchronizers can be found on the AJA Website or you can also use a Blackmagic Design ATEM switcher. In case VANC data has to be passed through, an AJA FSx device (except the mini), or any other frame store which allows to pass through VANC data, has to be used. Please contact the manufacturer of all 3rd party video devices which are used with your setup to make sure, that they can handle the VANC data as needed.
DSK-based
Using the DSK-based method the Live Input signal is passed through using the AJA device and there is no delay added to the Live Input signal.
Works with all supported AJA devices.
Does not work with devices from Blackmagic Design.
Live Input signal is not sent to the Just Out engine but is passed through using AJA’s hardware.
Live Input signal can not be seen in the On Air view of the Just Control user interface.
Live Input signal can not be part of a realtime Graphics template - scaling as part of the template for example.
VANC data which comes with the Live Input signal can NOT be passed through to the output.
Buffered (Non-DSK-based)
Using a non-DSK-based (or Buffered-In) method, the Live Input signal is sent to the Just Out engine which buffers the incoming signal. A minimum of 12 frames of delay is added to the Live Input signal, depending on the buffer defined for Just Out. This means that the signal which has been received 12 frames ago is visible at the output. The delay finally depends on the Video buffer defined for the Just Out engine under the Layers & Engines tab of Just Connect and can be between 12 frames (Video buffer = Off) and 10 seconds (Video buffer = 10 Seconds).
Works with the AJA Io 4K Plus, Io X3 and the KONA 4/5.
Works with all devices from Blackmagic Design that have "4K" or “8K” in their name.
Live Input signal is grabbed at the input and sent to the Just Out engine.
Live Input signal can be seen in the On Air view of the Just Control user interface.
Live Input signal can be part of a realtime Graphics template.
VANC data which comes with the Live Input signal can be passed through to the output.
