Attribute Type

Integer

Definition

This attribute specifies the codec used to encode the item’s video media in the standard Quicktime “4CC” format (four ascii characters encoded into a 32-bit integer value).

Note
Note that this attribute is purely informational for the user (for example will be displayed in just:play or just:live) but does not affect the item in any way when playing out. Note as well that this attribute is a “fallback” value used when the “toaCodecString” attribute is not specified for an item. Therefore it is recommended that the “toaCodecString” attribute should be specified if possible for an item (and in this case the “toaCodec” attribute omitted), and the “toaCodec” attribute specified only if the full name of the codec is unknown.
