Assigning an existing Engine to a Layer

It is possible to assign an existing Just Out engine to one or several Layers of a Channel. This is useful in situations where a new Layer is added to an existing Channel, or in case the redundancy Redundancy option has been acquiredlicensed.

  1. Select the Channel in the Devices & Channel Channel” window.

  2. Click on the Layers & EnginesEngines” tab.

  3. Select an existing engine, click on Select engine…engine…” and choose Just Out the engine that you would like to assign to this Layer.

  4. Repeat these steps for each Layer which has no engine assigned.

One Just Out instance can only be assigned to one Channel (except for the engine which is assigned as a redundant Redundant engine of a Channel using the N+1 redundancy Redundancy configuration) and only as either Primary a Primary or Redundant engine, not both.

Changing the Engine assigned to a Layer

It is possible to change the Engine Just Out engine which is assigned to the Layer of an Engine. This is useful in the following situations: 

  • You would like to use another Engine than the one currently used Just Out engine for the final output because the machine hosting running the current Engine Just Out engine is broken or graphics should be added to the final output using a second machine (load balancing). 

  • Several Channels need to be controlled from a single user interface (just:live user interface only).

  1. Select the Channel in the Devices & ChannelsChannels” window.

  2. Activate the Layers & Enginestab.

  3. If required, add and configure a new Engine like Just Out engine as described before.

  4. Click on an existing Engine Just Out engine and choose the Engine Just Out engine you would like to assign to this Layer instead.

To be able to change an Enginea Just Out engine, the currently used Engine Just Out engine as well as the new Engine Just Out engine must be shut down stopped beforehand.

Removing an Engine from a Layer

It is possible to remove an a Just Out engine from a single Layer or from all Layers of a Channel. This is useful in situations where an existing Just Out engine will be replaced by a new Just Out engine running on another hardwaremachine.

  1. To permanently remove an a Just Out engine permanently, select the Channel in the Devices & ChannelsChannels” window.

  2. Activate the Layers & EnginesEngines” tab.

  3. Select an existing Just Out engine and choose Remove engine from LayerLayer” or Remove engine from all LayersLayers”.

  • Once an a Just Out engine has been removed, you should assign a new Just Out engine to the Layer or remove the Layer from the Channel.

  • Activate the checkbox in front of the channel Channel to start the channel Channel and to take over the changes you just made.

  • The channel Channel will be removed from the multi Multi viewer interface, and you have to add it to a viewer Viewer again by drag dragging and drop of dropping the channel Channel to a viewer# Viewer.
