Capture Presets define the output format of a Recording (codec, container, resolution, audio channels, etc.). Before you can start Recordings with Just Control, you have need to create one or multiple Capture Presets. After After defining the Capture PresetsPreset(s), you can quickly access them in the Just Control inspectorInspector. This speeds up accelerates the Recording recording process and helps keeping to keep things organized.

Open the Just Control Configuration Panel panel, select a Device, and switch to the “Capture Presets” Tab tab.

Capture Preset List: shows all available Capture Presets. Use the buttons below to add and remove Capture Presets. Double-click on a Capture Preset Name to adjust the Preset Name.
Capture Preset Configuration Options: Set options for a Capture Preset.:
“TV Norm”: select the TV Norm.
“Container”: select the Container.
“Aspect RatioRatio”: select the Aspect Ratio.
“Codec”: select the Codec. After selecting the “Codec” you may be asked for the Frame rate and Resolution as well.
“Audio Channels”: select the number of Audio Channels. After selecting the Audio Channels you may be asked for the Audio Track Alignment (Mono or Stereo) as well.
“Audio Mapping”: use this option to change the audio output mapping for the recorded files.
“Do not write captions to container”: enable this options option if you don’t want to not write closed caption data into the recorded file.
Add a Capture Preset
In the “Device & Channel ListChannel List” select a Device. Click on the “Capture PresetsPresets” tab and press the Plus ("+") button to add a new Preset.

A new window appears, where you have to enter the Name of the new Capture Preset “Capture Preset”. Press the “Create” button to go back to the Preset option.

Next, configure the new “Capture PresetPreset”. It will be saved automatically after all options are set.

Edit an existing Capture Preset
Select an existing “Capture PresetPreset” and change the options on the right side. The changes will be saved automatically.

Remove a Capture Preset
Select an existing “Capture PresetPreset” and use the Minus ("-")-Button button below the “Capture PresetPreset” list to remove the selected “Capture PresetPreset”.
Apple ProRes & Avid DNxHD/HR
When creating an Apple ProRes or Avid DNxHD/HR based Capture Preset you have need to select the Frame rate and Resolution, after selecting the codec option.

Audio Channels and Audio Track Alignment
You can choose between 2“2”, 4“4”, 8“8” and 16 “16” Audio Channels for “Capture PresetsPresets”. Some configurations may require an Audio Track Alignment setting as well.

Please note, that some codec/container options allow only 2“2”, 4“4” or 8 “8” Audio channels as options.
Audio Mapping
The “Audio MappingMapping” feature enables the possibility to adjust the output mapping for the recorded video files of the incoming audio channels in a very simple way.

You can set an Audio Output Track to “Silence” as well, if needed.
H.264 Settings
When creating a H.264 Capture Preset you have to select “H.264” specific settings.

Note that “Custom” has to be selected as “TV-NormNorm”, when working with “H.264 264” presets.
There are different values and settings that can be customised within a an “H.264 CaptureCapture” preset. Initially, the container type can be selected. There are two options available:

MP4
H.264 is a very complex codec standard and sometimes it is very difficult to work with this codec and its settings. Thereforeis a bit more tedious to set up. Therefore, just:in mac provides various options, which can be modified within a an “H.264 presetpreset”. After choosing the container type, you have to define two general settings:
Resolution
Frame rate
Next you have to , select the aimed “H.264 profile. Here you can ” and choose between multiple encoder profile options. Then you can set the Bitrate in bit/s, B-Frames, the GOP-Size, and the Entropy Mode.
Please be aware note that some Mac Models have a built-in H.264 hardware encoder, which just:in mac can use for the H.264 encoding process. This happens automatically , when working with an H.264 Capture Preset. If you are using a Mac without such an H.264 encoder, you will see a warning message in the Errors and Warnings Section within the Inspector.

DaVinci Resolve
When using BMD Blackmagic DaVinci Resolve working with growing files is possible as well, but only when using a direct-attached storage. Tests with network-attached storages storage showed inconsistent behaviour behavior, and therefore it is not recommended.
